Alexis Texas (born May 25, 1985)[1] is an American pornographic actress.[2]

Bloodlust Zombies marked her entry into mainstream cinema — with the starring role in the comedy horror film in 2011.[3][4][5]

The 2020 book Human Resource Management in the Pornography Industry characterized Texas as one of "the most popular porn performers" according to her following on Instagram — with 3.8 million followers.[6]

Early life and education

Texas spent her early life in Castroville, Texas.[7][8] Her ancestry is from Puerto Rico, Norway, and Germany.[9][10] She played basketball in high school in Texas.[9] She attended Texas State University studying respiratory care therapy,[11] and received an associate's degree.[9] She worked at a restaurant as a bartender and assistant manager in San Marcos, Texas.[9] While working at the restaurant, she was discovered by Jack Venice of Shane's World.[12] Venice offered her a job in the adult industry.[12] Texas began working in adult films at age 21.[9]

Career

Pornographic acting and recognition

International Business Times placed Texas among "the most popular names in the adult industry" in 2014.[13]

Texas's first scene was with Jack Venice in Shane's World's College Amateur Tour in Texas, filmed in October 2006.[12] This was followed by several scenes for Bang Bros in Florida.[14] She moved to Los Angeles and began shooting scenes for the LA Direct modeling agency in March 2007.[12] Released in February 2008, Discovering Alexis Texas was directed by the adult performer Belladonna.[15] Later that year, she won the NightMoves Award for Best New Starlet.[16] Texas was featured on the cover of Genesis magazine in April 2009,[17] and Hustler magazine's 35th anniversary edition in June 2009.[18] The same year, Texas launched her official website and formed her own company Alexis Texas Entertainment, as a subsidiary of Starlet Entertainment Group.[19] Her website would go on to win an XBIZ Award for Performer Site of the Year.[20] In 2010, she was named by Maxim as one of the 12 top female stars in porn.[21] She was credited the same year with an acting role in the film Bikini Frankenstein.[22]

Mainstream cinema and directing

In 2011, Texas starred in the comedy horror film Bloodlust Zombies.[3][4][5] Credited with the lead role in the film, it was her first performance in mainstream cinema.[23][24] She also appeared in the music video for "Bandz a Make Her Dance" by Juicy J in 2012.[25][26] By 2012, Texas had appeared in over 400 films in the adult industry.[14] That year, Texas signed an exclusive, one-year contract with the company Adam & Eve.[27][28] Texas was featured as the cover model for The Big Butt Book.[29][9] In 2013, she was one of the 16 actresses portrayed in Deborah Anderson's documentary film Aroused.[30] She subsequently appeared in the 2013 romantic comedy film Don Jon written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.[31][32] In 2014 International Business Times placed her among "the most popular names in the adult industry".[13]

Alexis Texas won the 2010 F.A.M.E. Award trophy for "Favorite Ass".[33]

Vivid Radio featured a show entitled Alexis Texas: Sex ED in 2015.[34] In June 2015, Elegant Angel signed her to an exclusive directing contract.[35][36] Her directorial debut, Big Booty Tryouts, was released the following month.[37] She appeared in all of the film's scenes, which were the first ones she shot after a nearly two-year hiatus from performing.[37] Texas directed a cast in the film that included Anikka Albrite, Abella Danger, AJ Applegate, Keisha Grey and Dani Daniels.[38] She also directed The Real Buttwoman Returns, which featured her first gangbang scene.[39][40] Texas was selected as co-host of the 2015 AVN Awards.[2][29] She subsequently signed an exclusive acting deal with Elegant Angel in 2016.[36]

Social media and evolving career

In her 2018 book Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery, gender studies scholar Camille Nurka called Texas, "one of the most successful porn stars of the last decade".[41] The same year, she was included as a popular culture reference in the song "Yacht Club" on the album Nuthin' 2 Prove by rapper Lil Yachty.[42][43] Texas directed Kleio Valentien, Jenna Foxx, Sammie Six, Dava Foxx, Jayde Cole, Anna Foxxx and Zoey Monroe in the 2019 Elegant Angel release Alexis Texas Lesbian House Party.[44] Las Vegas Weekly observed in 2019 that Texas was a sought-after guest at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, commenting that she was "perennially popular" at the annual event.[45] The 2020 book Human Resource Management in the Pornography Industry by author David M. Kopp noted Texas was one of "the most popular porn performers" according to her following on Instagram — with 3.8 million followers.[6] In 2020, Texas stated she had not filmed any new adult scenes for 4 years; she focused on evolving her career and her podcast Private Talk With Alexis Texas.[9] She released her podcast via Apple Podcasts,[46] YouTube,[10] and Podbay.fm.[47] Texas interviewed singer-songwriter and record producer, Ne-Yo on Private Talk With Alexis Texas in February 2020.[48][49][50]

She was married to pornographic actor Mr. Pete from 2008 to 2013.[51]
